Terrific end to a great season!

This past weekend was my team's final meet of the year and what a meet it was. The team did amazing and ended up setting 8 new team records, and three of the girls qualified for nationals. Because of their great efforts I was honored as Coach of the Year and couldn't be prouder of my team for allowing me to receive this honor by doing such an amazing job. In result I've lost my voice, well not fully but enough to be quite annoying, and am still trying to find energy after an amazing 3 days. If anyone is interested in seeing the results they can be found at: http://www.miac-online.org/Sports/mswim/2008/sdchampionships09.asp
My team had a great year and I'm going to miss seeing the girls everyday but am excited to have more time at home with Robert and Eric. Eric too is excited to have me home more and I'm thinking Robert will enjoy having his mom home more but I could be wrong since Eric is definitely his favorite parent.

Even with my busy week we still found time to visit with family and friends. On Tuesday, Nick and Mandie came over for dinner and to spend some time with "us", meaning Robert. On Saturday one of Eric's friends was in the cities and they got to spend some time together and made a late night run to Canterbury after I got home from the meet at 11:00pm. And today we spent time in Farmington with Eric's family. His dad got really creative and we had a great meal (full of appetizers and yummy desserts) with a oriental theme. It was great food and fun to visit with all of them again. Robert's cousin Lyric was also there and spent a lot of time playing with her cousin. It is always so much fun to see them playing together.

Like always here are some pictures and a giggling video from the week. Hope you all have a great last week of February!

Valentine's Day!

Robert had a fantastic 1st Valentine's Day and even though he won't remember Eric and I will have some good memories. My best friend Sherry's 30th birthday was also on Valentine's Day and her husband surprised her by flying her home to Minnesota. Eric, Robert, and I along with our good friends Abby, Mike and their daughter Lucy picked them up at the airport and then spent the afternoon together. Robert was excited to see his buddy Lucy again and to not have to spend his first V-day without a date!

That evening Sherry got another surprise when we went to dinner at Buca di Beppo and a bunch of her family members were there to join in on the celebrations. It was a fun night but trying to cram 17 adults, a 4 1/2 year-old, 2 two year-olds, and 3 babies ranging from 5 to 6 months in a crowded restaurant was definitely a challenge. Robert surprised Eric and I by being a perfect angel all night even though it was way past his bedtime. We were hoping that all the excitement from the day would tire hime out enough to sleep through the night but unfortunately that wasn't the case and we are beginning to wonder if he'll ever sleep for longer than 4 hour stretches.

We hope everyone had a great Valentine's Day and were able to spend it with someone special!

In Denial!

As we get closer to Wednesday I'm starting to realize just how much I'm dreading my 30th Birthday. Eric celebrated his back in August like it was no big deal but for some reason I just do not want to be in my 30s. I'm not the type of person who really cares about age nor am I one that has a list of things I wanted to accomplish before turning the big 3-0 but I still don't want to be 30. My newest plan is to stay 29 for another 10 years and then I figure that by the time my 40th birthday roles around I'll be ready to be 30. We'll see if that works!

In the meantime Robert continues to be so much fun and grows more into a little boy everyday. It was great having the weekend off so I could spend 2 whole days with him and actually spend more than a few hours of awake time with him each day. Tonight we tried some new food and I got one of the best looks yet from him when he tried prunes. He was close to tears with the new taste and refused to open his mouth again until I gave him something he liked. So with the few things that are out there for stage 1 baby food he will eat Squash and Sweet Potatoes for veggies and Bananas, Applesauce, Pears, and Peaches...his favorites being Sweet Potatoes and Bananas which surprisingly is Eric's favorite vegetable and my favorite fruit. Soon we'll upgrade to the next stage of baby food and once my season is done I'm also going to attempt to make some of his food.
Here are the newest pictures and videos for the week. I'm determined to get a video of him giggling but so far everytime I try he stops instantly and just smiles at me when the camera is in sight. Hopefully soon you'll be able to see him giggling!

He used to love to sit in this chair now he loves squirming around and trying to get out of it!

Here is a video of him enjoying his new toy.
I went out and got him one because he hates sitting
still and wants to stand a lot. This is a perfect fit for him.

Rolling Over!

About 2 weeks ago Robert rolled over from his back to front for the first time. Of course he has been pretty choosy about when to do it and of course never in front of an audience however today was a brand new day. Everytime he has been laying down on the new rug in the living room he rolls over. Eric took this video of him doing his new trick this morning. Enjoy!

Other than watching Robert grow more into a little boy everyday there isn't much new to report. I've been gone for the majority of the last 2 weekends and Friday/Saturday meets and have really missed seeing my boys. We are done with the meets for the next two weeks as we prepare for our last competition of the year. The time has gone so fast and I have a great team this year but am really looking forward to having my weekends free and more time to play with my son.

The rest of the night the three of us are watching the Super Bowl and eating lots of yummy food. Peaches and Sweet Potatoes for Robert while Eric and I enjoy some treats from Papa Murphy's.
