Take my toy...I cry

This week Robert started a new phase and for once we aren't excited about it. He has learned the wonderful trick to scream/cry whenever something is taken away from him. Eric unfortunately had to deal with this all day Friday & Saturday while I was working. I got to witness it first hand today and wasn't too impressed. It is also very hard not to laugh at him when he's crying because it is so fake. Oh the joys of parenthood! He did learn a few cool trick this week as well, makes popping noises with his mouth and started doing fishy lips. I guess we'll take the good with the bad.

Speaking of bad we learned on Thursday that Eric's uncle Eldon had been admitted into the hospital and had to have an exploratory surgery done. He is doing better but there is still a long battle ahead for him. He lives in Ohio and so we are sending him, Wilma (Eric's Aunt) and their sons (JJ and Danny) lots of thoughts and prayers hoping that they get better soon. Below you'll see Robert showing his support and part of his get-well soon card to Eldon.

Robert is into anything now and loves to be on the move. To keep him on the move we reintroduced one of this birthday gifts. It is a Fisher-Price Horse that can be hooked up to the tv for an educational/learning toy. Right now Robert likes playing with it without the tv and bounces up and down while listening to the music. Here is a little of him playing on it today.

Have a great week everyone!

Wedding & Soccer Game

This weekend was once again a busy one for the Hempler Family. It started with a trip to Red Wing on Friday for a wedding. A good family friend (Nick Sparby) got married and we had a great time celebrating with family and friends. The next morning we were on the road bright and early to see Lyric play in her 2nd soccer game of the season. It was fun to see her play and hope to get to another game this season. From there we came home to accomplish the dreaded weekend chores (ie. grocery shopping, cleaning, and laundry). All was actually accomplished and I even had time to sneak away today and get my hair cut. No more mommy ponytails!

One Year Stats

Today was Robert's 1-year check up that included 6 shots. Robert got 4 and a finger prick while Eric and I each got the flu shot vaccine. Not a fun morning! Robert weighed in at 27lbs 4 oz and was in the 94.5 percentile, his height wasn't as high but he is 2 feet and 6 inches to put him in the 58 percentile. His head circumference continues to hold steady in the 99 percentile, which is why getting some shirts on is always a challenge! The doctor thinks he looks great and has no concerns. We hopefully won't see the doctor again until 15 months but will be back to see the nurses in a month for his 2nd flu shot and then probably a few weeks after that for the H1N1 vaccine.

1st Birthday Party!

Today we celebrated Robert's 1st Birthday with family and friends. We had a great day and enjoyed one of our last nice weekends on the deck. Robert was a trooper and made it through the entire party even without a morning nap. We were a little worried that he was going to fall asleep in his cake but the sugar was enough of a boost to help him last a couple more hours. Thanks to all that were able to join in the celebrations today and to those that were with us in spirit.

Labor Day Weekend!

This weekend my mom came up to spend some time with us and get some rest and relaxation. On Saturday we went to Archiver's for another scrapbooking event. It is amazing how fast 6 hours goes when you get in scrapbooking mode... Luckily I was able to get Robert's baby album up to date and ready for people to look at for his party.

Today I had to work in the morning to greet all of our incoming swimmers. Always a fun morning and a great way to start off the new school year. After I got home the four of us headed out with plans on taking Robert for his first zoo trip at Como Park but State Fair traffic and a beautiful afternoon changed our plans (we drove around for 30 minutes and there was no parking within a few miles of the zoo). So we decided to stick around St. Paul and visited the Science Museum. We had fun but Robert was still a little too young to enjoy it so we went a few blocks over to the Children's Museum and spent the rest of our afternoon letting Robert explore and meet new friends. It was a great time and we'll definitely be visiting there more often.

The water area was my boys favorite area!

It was the last day for the Clifford exhibit!

Such a big boy!
This week will be a busy one with the start of the school year for me and some realtor meetings for Eric and then we'll be ending the week with Robert's First Birthday party. I can't believe that a week from tomorrow my baby will be turning one already. Where does the time go?
